Hi, say fellow, that`s starting this tank you would wan`t to rethink about having a sting ray for a aquarium is a close system and if and when some other fish in their desides to pick at the ray, in a very short time it will die, over 12 years ago i did a 300 gallon systen for sting rays and was also get- ing sharks eggs and growing the sharks up to 3 feet and take them to other`s who have bigger systems to house them, the smallest sting ray grows about a foot long and just as wide, and to house a sting ray in a tank you need to have little to none decorations and and i hope you reconsider about getting a ray.
See if you`re thinking on the blue spotted sting ray, that ray sales for a high price, i have him and i keep him until at that time i moved to another state, it prices $350 to 500 depending on the area you are, so please reconsider it . And also you would have to feed the ray by hand with the other fishes in the tank it will starve. Good Luck

:Even though it swallows its prey whole, a lionfish is just not that aggressive. Adding any of the fish you listed, with the exception of the eel and the ray, may endanger its life because they will want to nip at his fins. I have found that tangs, perhaps a squirrelfish, larger clowns, butterflies, anthias and other, less "nippy" fish usually work with lions. A note on the ray - it needs a large sandy bottom to thrive.
