I have an undulated and it too changes its colour intensity. I have always thought of it as natural for the fish and certainly an indicator of its state of well being.

My triggers like to "play dead" every so often as well. I have an Undulated, picasso, 2 black spots(commonly sold as picassos), star trigger, half moon and a niger in two tanks. The undulated is in half a tank on his own as he is the largest and have had him the longest.

I find the "playing dead" thing to indicate that the fish are either crowded or someone isn't happy. My niger played dead for almost a week, not eating or anything, eventually he came out of it and is eating again, but did loose quite a bit of weight.

Good luck and happy trigger keeping.

Ken
