: I am thinking of getting possibly a huma huma trigger (picasso?) and a lionfish. Can i put them in a 33 gallon tank, or do they need something bigger? Also, does anyone know how well they will get along? Thanx

Searching the web, seems this combination is not highly recommended, as the triggers are more active and aggresive than the lionfish.

Having kept both in the past I would have agreed. On the weekend I was at a pet store and they had a 200 gallon aquarium with a Queen Trigger, Volitans Lion, Dog Face Puffer and a Moray Eel in it.
The Queen trigger was over 12 " long and the lion fish at least 10". The lion fish had a frayed tail, possible due to a bit of nipping from the trigger, but overall the fish seemed to really ignore each other.

I do feel that a 33 gallon tank is a bit small, but to start with if the fish are smallish then it would be okay. I would recommend something along the line of 60-75 gallons for the long run.

Good luck

Ken
