If they are going away without you doing anything like medicating, then your first description of what they looked like is more than likely what they were, tiny bubbles. ICK doesn't disappear from the fish that fast even with medicating (usually takes 3 or 4 days although you will see an improvement in the first couple of days), and when you don't medicate will get worse, not better. Bubbles on the other hand can take a day or two to dissipate and can even look like ICK.
