::Hello. Just today I noticed several white spots on 2 of my black neons. I thought for a second that these spots where like water bubbles on the fish from my water filter. Then I realized that they were not they even stick out (Similar to a human with a pimple or something) they are white, very tiny spots on the tail and on the body of the fish.. I also noticed a couple of these spots on one of my head tail light tetra.. Is this contageous?? Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? What is ich (or however it's spelled)? Any input on the matter would be appreciated.. Thanx in advance.

: Sounds like you have ick to me, which is very contagious. It is probably best to treat your entire tank as the parasites can drop to the bottom of your tank into your gravel. It is imperative that you HALF the dosage of your ick medicine for small fish such as black neons. Giving a full dosage will kill them. An excellent product made especially for small fish is a product called Ick Guard 2 by Jungle. You should be able to find this in most pet stores or Walmart. Make sure you remove the carbon from your filter before using the product. Ick is easy to cure, but you do need to start early and don't let it progress as it will eventually kill the fish.
