Hi,
I have some blind cave fish. I've had them for two years now. I'm not quite sure how long they live, but I do know that they don't like strong light, but they do love a bit of a current. Just turn the current down during feeding time. I find the same thing. They do seem to eat their food from the bottom of the tank. I have only occasionally seen them eat in midwater, and that is when I feed them blood worms. Mine love freeze dried blood worms.
Happy fish keep ing :)

Matt
