I can tell you this. that Penguin 170 isn`t filtering enough water, you would need the next Penguin, the 330 Bio-wheel. And to o good by the other fishes you have, once you have a lost, what if you know why or not, you don`t just run out for a replacement, if it was ick, you would wait some six weeks to see if any other fish become ill and even if to you the cause isn`t known you should still go on a wait and see period to be sure no problems exists. I already know that the filter your using isn`t up to the task for a 40 gal tank. For tangs it`s understood if you have a tang, you have a 75 gal tank, see in the stores they have these fishes for show and are for a little while crouded in a smaller tank, but to take them home and placed in a smaller tank is another matter. Later, perhaps tomorrow i`ll get back here to list you food`s for tangs, right now i realize i have to be at a car repair at 7:30 to replace an item in the engine. Just one thing before i go, right now the name of this filter doesn`t come to me, but it`s a bio filter with an attached skimmer, just can`t remember the name right now, ok catch ya later. ><{{{{"> Buddy
:The fish is already gone, but would appreciate your help before I replace it. The tang was only about 2.5 inches long, very small. Our aquarium is a 40 gallon Oceanic, Penguin biowheel 170, I don't know what the light system is (responding from work) think it is something by AQUARAYS-- no skimmer. We also have one anemone in the tank, 3 blue damsels, and two small clowns, and one 1 inch snail. around 20lbs of live rock. Crushed coral base. Feeding frozen cube that we got at the time we purchased our tang (all of the meats combined). THe guy at the store said the tang would eat this and then in about a month switch to vegetation food. We have had the tang for about three weeks. All of the other fish are doing fine. The clowns have been in for a couple of months and the damsels for even longer. We just tested the water and got normal readings. We replaced around 10 percent of the water earlier this week. No evidence of ick.....Any help would be greatly appreciated.

:: No ick? need to check out your water, and please don`t just don`t say your water is great, you don`t know that for sure, just because you get no ammonia or nitrite readings it doesn`t mean your aquariums water is in great conditions. What size tank is this? skimmer? UV ? type of filtration ( sump ) need the equipments company`s name and what ever the label on the item says. I`ll be able to answear this late tonight. So please, all info on everything on this tank and tank size.

:::FAirly knew, but have a tang (had for about 3 weeks) for the past three days has not been eating, just whatever will float to her-- and then this morning found her on gravel bottom almost on side. Seems to be breathing normal to a little rapid, but is not swimming about. Normally she is very active, any suggestions on saving my tang.
