Ok I have been reading this forum quite a bit today and I keep see "cycling the tank". As I am new to fish...this terms scares me. Would someone please take a minute to explain. I too have swordtails and would like to keep them (especially since I wasnt warned that a pregnant female would kill my other fish.) I have 2 10 gal tanks and have been vacuuming the gravel once every other month and adding water to the tank when levels are low with the proper chemicals and my tank is fine. ONly casulaties were the ones caused by the mommy to be!! If something should happen to my fry (only one survived, never saw more then 4 in the tank tho, I now have "baby savers") or other fish I want to be sure its not something I did wrong with the tank. Thanks for any info you can provide. This forum has proven very helpful just by reading the old posts!
