Thank you for your comments. After posting this note we took a good look at our Female Swordtail to find that she is indeed pregnant! - this is as if you were clairvoyant!!

Attached is a photo of our fish. It would be great to see what you think.

BTW by minimal ammonia & nitrate I guess I meant the least on the testing scale - which is as close to zero as I can tell.

Thanks again for your help and advice. I think we will indeed wait out the 6 months - we are going to get the plants necessary for the fry as we speak!.. any other tips?
