My beloved mystery snail (Spot) died last month. I do not think they are aggresive with other snails. My thoughts are possibly a major change in water conditions, being weak from transit, or possibly an illness he might have had, since you had him only a week. Again, I am not an expert on snails, but these things come to mind. Have you contacted the store where you purchased him, maybe others have passed on as well. One aquarium store I frequent have stopped ordering their mystery snails as they have had continuous problems with them. But, do not give up...as you say, snails are wonderful and beautiful and sweet...and well worth the effort. I'm so sorry for your loss.
