::I just wanted to know exactly what I need to set up a shark tank. I was thinking either a leopard or black tip. Any help would be greatly appeciated

: I know sharks are very interesting, but you need to know what it is you really want to do here. First of all, a leopard shark grows to 6' and the black tip grows to 10'. So if one wanted to maintain a shark tank system, it would have to be hugh, i`m not talking a tank sytem a few hundred gallons, i`m talking a system that`s thousands of gallons. Now the leopard shark swims slow when calm, but a black tip shark needs much swimming space. Perhaps you will think in another species to put together your dream, not unless you have the money to do such a system, and if i was to do a shark tank for a black tip, it be no smaller then 20,000 gallons, and no less in depth then 8'.
: But then there is another problem that comes to mind, that is the reef shark is known to jump out the water over corals, not to my understand, if it does this in the wild, it just might do this in a tank with live rocks. But i do think you should look into another type of marine species to start this hobby.

You should really consider if Sharks are for you. If the answer is yes then you are choices you must make and these are just a few of them. One is a the type of shark you will get. To help with this get the book called "Aquarium Sharks & Rays" by Scott W. Michael, this is the best book on the subject of sharks you can get. It will tell you the pro's and con's of most of the types of sharks you will ever find in a Fish store.
