: Ok, perhaps i didn`t say it well enough, your 90 gal tank is to small for it, sorry :(( I would go no smaller then a 125

::thanx for your reply. i am aware of it's chance of adapting, price, gravel requirements and not being able to have decorations etc.
::however, the only thing i am concerned with is the size. i know a fully grown stingray will not fit, but how big is too big. i need an idea of how much room it is going to need in relation to it's size. also, how fast do they grow.
::i really would like a stingray, and the 90g is definately the best i can do. so i am trying to find a way to keep one without a guilty conscience. if i could buy one at about 6", keep it for two years and then give it back to the LFS i'd be more than happy.

::: Hi, these rays are very difficult to keep and you would need a much larger aquarium then a 90 , and the other thing is you wouldn`t need any decorations in the tank, for this beauty have no place to swim as it is in a 90, and i hope you know the blue spotted stingray draws a high price. and it would need a gravel which it can bury itself, sandy the better. Happy New Year`s ><{{{{"> Buddy

::::i got a 90g, 4'x2'x18" tank... im looking at get a blue spotted stingray. if u dont think that my tank is big enough for a fully grown stingray.... how big do u think i should let it get before i upgrade the tank or sell him back to the LFS?
::::Also, do you know how fast they grow. lets say i bought one at about 6" how long till it grows to 12"

First make sure you are not sold a blue spotted ribbontailed stingray. They are much harded to keep. Second you will need at least a 120 Gal tank.
They can I think get up to 18 inches long and prefer sand not rocks. Rocks will cause damage to thier belly and setup places for infections to start. They do how ever like a rock ledge to be under. Perhaps in one corner you could put a rock ledge for a hiding place. But no rock or gravel only fine sand.
Growth rate depends on feeding. It would take about two years for it to reach its max lenght.
