If your tank is fine then there really is no reason to change.
With Crushed coral you need to vacum the gravel as you can have a build up waste and food and that will lead to high nitrates.
With live sand you don't have that problem, as the sand is smaller, but you either need things in the sand to stir it up or have fish that will move the sand around. Otherwise the sand will get hard.
