One thing you can do to help reduce the heat is leave the lights off most time time, and another thing you can do is setup a fan on the side the tank blowing over the surface tanks water.

:I just went to a great aquarium who gave heaps of good advice. The guy I bought it from didn't tell me half this stuff.
:I've just put some live rock in there to give him some hiding space - with the tank in the living room it's probably a little full-on for him. I've also worked out a lighting routine - the tank was lit up way too much.
:I think for now I've done what I can to make him settle in easier. The temperature isn't really something I can help! If you've seen on the news lately, half of Australia is on fire (well, not literally). Temps are getting up to and beyond 100f.
:If you have any ideas for cooling the tank they're really welcome - and thanks once more for your initial thoughts.
