You want to do what`s good? well first of all, yourm tank is a 11 gal, thats to small for a fish that grows some 5", you would need a 30 gal tank. As for lights, thats not a problem and it hasn`t nothing to do with water quality and it`s always good for your fish if they have a home in this tank, caves of live rocks, whatever. See for one thing, your tank is to small for a F/O tank, i would do a mini reef.
Now what type filter you have on this 11 gal tank? You didn`t say what filter is on this tank. And what type sand you have and how thick the bed is.
And besides the tomato clown grows 5", they ar also aggressive. And at 5" he will have no where to swim in that 11 gal tank :((
And as for the temperture, 30 C is way to high, that`s 86 F, your temperture should be 77 to 79 F ( 26 C )
People treat sick fishes with a temperture of 82 F , your tank is 86 F as you posted, thats good reason for him to hang in one spot, and in time you will loose him, that`s alot of stress he is going thru.

:Hi,

:I've got a pretty small 11 gallon saltwater tank with a tomato clown and another little blue fish in it (sorry - don't know it's kind!).

:Every caution has been observed in terms of water quality, filtration, light etc. The only thing I can think is lacking is decor - its literally just the two fish and the sand so far.

:The problem is this - both fish, particularly the clown, seem very unhappy. They both sit in the lower back corners (in opposite ones - the clown is mean to the other one!) and barely move unless for food.

:It has been very hot of late in Australia where I live, with room temperatures heating the tank to average around 30 celcius (optimal is 26 in celcius).

:Apart from that, I can't imagine what's wrong.

:What I'd like to know is how to make them happier. Coral? Other compatible fish?

:Your help is really appreciated...

:
