: OK, so for a fish-only tank, I would not need a RR pre-drilled tank?

: So, is a power filter enough for a SW tank or do I need to set up an ecological filter system (which would necessitate the RR system)?

: Thanks!

Hi Lorraine,
If you already have a large power filter in the Emperor 400, Aquaclear 500, or Wisper 5/6 range, in a fish-only setup, that will probably work. I might add though, that the addition of a good protien skimmer will serve you well. A sml/med powerhead w/prefilter sponge will be able to "round out" circulation needs and a little extra filtering too. On an additional note, a reef-ready tank setup does not have to contain a reef eccosystem. You can use this type of setup for freshwater or marine. It's just another way to employ filtering and water treatment equipment.
