:I just got an orange sea rod from my lfs and it was OK for a day or two then it stopped being open. i feed the tank marine snow every other day and nothing else seems to be having problems, any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Well how strong are your lights? To give you an idea to what im talking about, "The Orange Gorgonian is also referred to as Orange Finger Gorgonian, Orange Tree Gorgonian, or Colorful Sea Rod. An attractive branching tree-like coral, it is extremely brittle and breaks easily, making it easy to propagate in this way. It basically is available in two color variations being bright orange-yellow with red and white polyps, or deep red to purple with white polyps. This sea fan will usually grow in small and sparsely branched colonies.
Care Level: Difficult
Light: Low
Water Flow: Strong
Placement: Bottom
Tank Conditions: 72-78°F; sg 1.023-1.025; pH 8.1-8.4
Color Form: Orange
Dominance: Peaceful
Diet: Filter Feeder
Reef Compatible: Yes
Ideal Supplements: Iodine, Trace Elements, Calcium, Strontium
Origin: Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean
Family: Anthothelidae
Since it is not photsynthetic, its survival is dependent on regular and frequent feedings of micro-plankton, live, baby brine shrimp, or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates.
Now i hope you understand, i mean this coral needs only very low lights, nothing bright. ><{{{{">
