Ross,

My RTS is a little over 4 inches as of right now. His growth has really slowed down as of late. As for what I feed him, a variety in diet is best. I feed the RTS something different everyday of the week and never the samething 2 days in a row. Now you probably dont have to go that route, it just works well for me. I feed my RTS sinking algae wafers, sinking shrimp pellets, some frozen brine shrimp, and some tropical fish flakes. Like you he eats algae on the glass and decorations. But I dont purposely grow it though. I never had any luck with vegetables. Thats another thing you can feed them.

As for tips on how to feed a RTS without the other fish getting the food, I guess I can offer some that works well for me. What works best is the syphon tube that you or at least I use to do water changes, take off the end that has the thin tube that emptys the water and take off the front part also. If you do that you would be left with a single tube. Mine is a small Python version. I than stick one of the ends into my tank and point that end close to his cave. Than at the end that is sticking out of the water, than put your algae wafers, or what ever you got and put it in the tube, the food than will sink down the tube and right to where you want it. I choose to put my RTS food next to his cave because he is more likly to chase after anything that gets too close to his cave resulting in better results of the RTS getting some food. Now I dont know how tiger barbs will be like because I never had any. You could probably use any plastic pipe but I just feel safer with a aquarium safe syphon. I have learned that a species tank or an all bottom feeder tank works best for a RTS. Thats just my opinion. In my tank I have 5 zebra danios, 6 cory catfishes, and 2 otos. I dont mind the corys eating the food for the RTS, I just put more in to accompany both fish.

Hope that was of some help.

Oh by the way how big are your RTS and how did you get to manage 2 RTS in the same tank? I have always wanted to add another RTS to my tank, just didnt know if it was safe.

Steven
