Maybe you are not getting your fish from a good quality fish store.

Other ideas, put some aquarium salt and use some water conditioner when you do water changes.

As for diet all you need really to feed them is sinking algae wafers. I feed mine 1 a day and on weekends I feed him thawed out frozen brine shrimp or sinking shrimp pellets.

Are you sure it dosent have ich? RTS are very succeptable to ich.

Do 20 or 30 percent water change weekly. Keep temp at 78 to 80 degrees. Put a cave in his tank for him to hide in. Give him some live or fake plants. Everything here is just some suggestions on how to make it a less stressful event for your RTS.

What other tankmates do you have with him? While RTS have been known to be aggressive, they wont become aggressive until they hit 4 inches long or so and get older. When they are young and tiny they get picked on alot and thats why they need alot of hiding places.

Also I hope your not doing this but when you get your fish home do you put him in the tank right away? Thats a disaster in the making and is probably the reason why your shark dies. What I do is I put the bag in the tank for awhile. 10 minutes later I put a cup or so of MY tank water into the bag, repeat the process roughly 2 more times every 10 minutes. Than when your ready to put him in your tank, dont dump that water thats already in the bag into your tank. Take it and empty your bag along with your shark in to a net and put him in the tank. The water you get from the pet store is quite often dirty and nasty. Not good.

I say follow my advise and if you are getting your sharks from the same place, go to a different pet store and get one there.
