Depends on where you are and what kind of lilies they are. Are they hardy lilies? If so then they will most likely need to be divided and repotted, you will then be ready for another year with them. As for the cattails, you could probably repot them as well, then they will take off for another year.

If you ahd tropical lilies and you live above zone 8 in the States and left it in the pond chances are the lily is dead. But I would still check it out before tossing it in the compost heap. Check the tuber, see if it is viable or if it is mush. If it's mush then toss it, if it is still solid then pot it up and cross your fingers.

:Okay well during the summer we had a lush patch of green cat tails and a well covered surface of water with lilies and flowers, however due to winter all of the plants have died, now heres the questiong I was wondering if when spring comes alogn should we remove the old dead plants and put a new patch of lily pads or just leave them there and put the new one in anyways? lemme know
