running the cord through a piece of PVC pipe and wrapping the pump plug/extension cord connection in electrical tape. Bury the PVC/cord combination and cover with flat stone pavers, cover with dirt, replace sod and voila. The pavers are to prevent anyone digging from cutting the cord in half, just a little extra safety measure...the whole mess should be wired to a GFI outlet too.
