Rubbermaid Container as outdoor pond??

Hey,
I was wondering if I could put a large rubbermaid container into the ground to make a small pond for one of my turtles? Some of my concerns were filtraion and water temp. Will the pond overheat? It will be in shade for half of the day, then in full sun for the other half. Then about filtration...What would be a good filter? Would I need a pond filter, or could I just change the water on a weekly basis?
Thanks,
Chris
