To make a long story short, my parents keep putting convict cichlids in my clown pleco tank.

I am ok if they want to keep four small female cichlids in there.
but the breeding pair has got to go.

I am waiting for a period of time where I know they will not be home for a while to discretly remove these fish to another tank.

I would like to discourage the re - introduction of these cichlids to my pleco tank.

Is there a way I could secure the cover of my tank down to prevent these pest fish from being added back in?
