Growth rate will depend a lot upon several factors, and no one can give you a definite amount of time. It could take several months, several years, or it may never happen. If you have him in anything less than a 55-gallon tank to himself then he may never reach a foot in length, you also have to make sure he is getting the proper diet along with clean water on a regular schedule.
