A really good way to clean a fry tank is to not put gravel in it, and use just a plain hose to suck the water up into a bucket. If you see any fry at that time you can scoop them out and put them back in the tank, and not worry about them going down the drain.

Pet stores will take in fry, some may buy them for cash, some may give you store credit in return, and some may not give you anything at all. Call around and find out what size that particular store wants them at and how much if any they will give you for them.
