i have never had a problem with plecos eating fry, altough i have hurd of them becoming carnivors and latching on to adult fish. anyway what is the male to female ratio in the tank? you should have two females pure male. the platys could be eating them, some people seperate the female when she is going to have them, but i think that it puts more stress on her so i leave them in the adult tank. try adding alot of extra cover for the fry, add a "bushy" freefloating plant, like hornwort. they fry will hide in it when they are born and you should get a good amount out.
