:I've tried google for about an hour total. I gave it the ol' college try. I can not find any web pages which document commonly occuring forms of freshwater algae in the aquarium environment.
:I have hair algae, the common algae that grows on glass and some other algae I can not identify. If anyone knows of a guide, please let me know. THe next step is to post pictures from my tank. THis unknown form of algae is a dark dreen color and can only be described as short and bristly.
:Thanks,

Karl,
I think the algae you may be describing is "brush" or "beard" algae. It's no that easy to rid. You may have to snip off the leaves that have this on it and re-evaluate the lighting, and other tank conditions, water changes, feeding, etc. And there is a chapter and color photos of this and many other algae forms in Vol 1 of that Baensch Atlas we were talking about :-)

ps: What did you think about those "Amano" planted tanks? Pretty swift eh?
