What kind of water can cabomba's be in?

Can they be kept in brackish water, Or are they strictly fresh? I am also wondering the same thing with java ferns Fresh, or brackish. Also can any one recomend a kind of brackish water fish that eat snails? or doI even have to worry about snails in brackish water? thanks for any info in advaced.
