Sure it's possible. Some plants that will do pretty well in low light situations and are fairly tolerant of less than perfect conditions are java moss and java ferns, however, I would make sure they get as much light as possible and that when they start to get too big that you prune them often. I would not add them to any tank or bowl that isn't at least 2-gallons and fully cycled. Plants will take up space and in return leave less room for the betta to swim, they also use nitrates as a source of nutrients.
