hygrophila growing sideways

I put 3 bunches of hygrophila (regular not difformis) in my tank about 2-3 weeks ago. They are growing well and roots are forming all along the stem. The problem is that all of the new growth has been horizontal instead of up.
Any ideas on what is causing this???

Thanks
