the 'black' piranha, Serrasalmus Rhombeus, is a solitary species and should never be mixed with other aquarium fish; especially other serrasalmus or pygocentrus sp.

Regarding the eye, from your description i am assuming it has been removed by the spilopleura, and in return will not grow back and/or repair itself.
