My partner purchased another parrot cichlid approx. 4/5 months ago in total between us we have 12 BPs but we have never see one like this before.
It is predominately yellow or coffee brown but where he differs is that he has 3/4 black dots running horizontally along his body to the caudal peduncle/tail, when he is stressed or early in the morning he has black stripes (like a zebra) running vertically all the along his body through the dots. (sometimes when stressed or startled he looks black but lightens up to the normal parrots colour except for the dots).
As well as this under his mouth/gill area is tinged with red.
You may think that this is another fish other than a BP but we have 11 others that are physically exactly the same except for the colour. The closet fish colouration I have seen to this is a fire mouth cichlid (but he is definitely a BP) also he reminds me of a flower horn cichlid which appears on the photo gallery on this site.
When I get a good enough photo I will post it.
