Why do my fish do this? Is it a bad sign?

I have a 55 gallon containing a smallmouth, a small eel, a channel cat and a bluegill. Sometimes my fish will rub or scrape their side against a rock. It looks like they are trying to satisfy an itch. This does not happen often but when one does this others usually do as well. Anyone know about this? Is it a bad Sign?
