The growth of my spotted gars.....

Now I heard they grow fast, but these guys are amazing! I bought my pair back in June, I think, or maybe early July. They were maybe 5" long and about as big around as your finger (well my finger at least!)I placed them in a tank with a 10" arowana hoping it wouildn't badger them too much. Well a month or two later they were actually co0mpeting for food with the arowana. Now 4 months later they live in my 250 "gosh These fish got big" tank with two arowanas(the smaller of which is the same the gars grew up with, now 16") a trio of Chitala knife's, 3 tiger shovel noses, an aussie arowana, and a trio0 of golden datnioids. The gars have flourished in this tank and are now 15-16" each, easily outpacing most every other fish I have, although I do have a peruna cat that has grown very fast as well (now 13"). These gars, while not the brightest of fish are fascinating to watch. About eight weeks ago, a fahaka puffer removed nearly all their fins save the tail. Oddly enough, though they sure swam funny, it barely seemed to effect their feeding or ability to catch they feeder fish. They just kinda wiggled after them!
