I've worked with morays for many years and definetly do not advise any hand training or hand feeding. Let these animals retain thier healthy fear of your hands as even a small 2ft snowflake can cause serious damage and once they bite on they often won't let go until they've got something to satiate thier hunger. Morays have one of the most powerful jaw muscles in the ocean. These are very gentle creatures nonetheless and handling them is very cool but belive me the only reason the are coming to your hand is the prospect of food you will see eels get quite aggressive as they get older and you have no food in your hand and I've seen them out of fustration chomp the next nearest fish as well. Give these animals the respect they deserve maybe a snake would be a better choice if you want something to play with. |
