Well hi again Bianca, now i been doing this hobby for many years, some 44 to 45 years in all and the first 3 1/2 years were in freshwater aquariums and even then in my first 7 years or so, i stayed away from high priced marine animals. For one thing i concidered myself as a beginner at that point in time, and besides that, unlike today you have the internet and many books telling you about the vast marine like in our oceans. But from what i seen in few those books, many don`t give complete infomation or should i say they give some incorrect infomation. Just like if you look up one species of fish and one site say it grows 7" and another will say 10", one hobbyist can get little confused in that to what is the correct infomation.
Now back at the time i began in marine aquariums, we had no books or internet for guidance, one needed to know more of what they had to know by first hand experienced, so at that point in time, i wasn`t willing to risk an expensive marine animal, i did how ever had as high price fish up to $250, and enev from that time i always wanted to have a pair dragon moray eel`s, but i choice to wait my time, gain knowledge, even today i still research in all and any marine animals, even that i`ll not have most them i still researched in what ever species i can learn about.
Now i had a snowflake moray in my early day in marine hobby, for one thing they don`t demand a high price. Even when i lived up in NY, i had a 550 gal system which for the fun of it, i raised sharks, but before i went all out in that, i first looked to see where i be able to get them a home, and out in Long Island i found a guy that had a 40,000 system built in his basement, he agreed to take the sharks when it came the time i thought i need to remove them for the idea their size. With most the sharks, i kept them till the size of 5 to 6 feet.
But about what i like in morays, well first of all i care about and like all marine life, but as for having this species or that one, in that i`ll have to go by the species it self, to give you a sample to this understanding, i have a queen trigger, now i have her since she was 2 1/4", in 10 months she was at a size of 11", and now she is 20 or 21"...... I can tell you this, at the beginning of having the queen trigger, i knew exactly what i had, in attitude and aggression. Today she is in her own tank and every time when i need to clean inside her tank i have to fight with her, now you never hear of it but in the wild queen triggers are known to attack divers.
Now maybe you like to concider one these morays for your 40 gal tank, echidna delicatula (finespeckled moray) 26", echidna polyzona (banded moray) 23 ", echidna catenata (chainlink moray) 28", gymnothorax buroensis (latticetail moray) 13" on this moray you can have a pair in the 40 gal tank, gymnothorax chilospilus ( whitelip moray) 20" , gymnothorax enigmaticus (tiger moray) 22" gymnothorax eurostus (salt and pepper moray) 25" and one my favorite smaller eels is the gymnothorax miliaris ( goldentail moray 23" and demands a high price, about $200. There are many other eel`s you can house in a 40 gal tank, but to remember their names right off the bat, isn`t easy. Now if you go to any site to buy a golen moray, be sure you know what to order, for many people get confuse because there is other golden moray`s, but the true golden moray grows 7 to 10 " and has a black marking and the other golden moray which isnt a true golden moray, grows up to 2' and had lots brown markings, and many aquarium stores charge the same for them as the smaller golden moray. So best of luck.

:: Hello Bianca, i have a male and still i`m waiting for a female. Now these species you`re not see them in the aquarium stores, just waiting for one to show up in one will not get you what you want, you will need to have the aquarium store to order it for you, but i hope you understand, they demand a high price tag, my male cost me $530, and i find his more easy to feed and such then my dragon moray`s. My golden guy is only about 8" and it look as if he not get any more bigger.

:Thanks for the info Buddy. They are more than I had thought I thought maybe tops $150 each guess I was thinking along real expensive snowflake moray lines.I am curious how do you like it color wise and personality wise?
: I imagine since you have a dragon also your into uncommon morays.I keep 2 snowflakes both still under 12 inches in a 75 gallon no fish just them and 75 lbs epoxyed cemented live rock with alot of inverts actually growing on the rocks and doing well.I was looking for small morays for a 40 gallon tank same set up style.
: Thanks.
: Bianca
