As the name implies, I'm more of a snake keeper than anything else (university student, maintain native and nonnative venomous and nonvenomous snakes both for the college and privately), but I have kept a few aquaria on and off over the years, but mainly really simple stuff, and many times just a few things here and there for use as feeders for my other animals.

I'm thinking of adding an aquarium to one of my rooms. I've really been looking at snowflake moray eels, and from what I can find on them they seem pretty hardy (I've read a lot of the old posts about them on this forum) and generally an easy species to keep.

I have room for a larger tank, but I have a 29 gallon long that I was thinking about housing a small one in, and then as the eel grows move it to a different tank and fill in the smaller tank with other stuff. Does that sound reasonable?

I'm new to marine aquariums, so is this a good beginner animal to start with?

Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.
