:I have just started my tank a few weeks ago and bought 3 plattys and two mollys. The mollys were both pregnant to my suprise and gave birth, one at a time. The first gave birth two days after i brought her home and then she died the next day.
:The second gave birth the following week and then died. I have just read that the water needs to have salt in it. Is that the reason they died or do they die after giving birth?
:How much salt should I add so that my plattys wont get hurt?

First thing's first. How long has the tank been running before adding the fish? Are you sure it was properley cycled completely? Did you add all those fish at once? If you did, the ammonia would've spiked again. When I first began the hobby, I purchased mollies. I lost quite a few throughout my "training" and after testing, discover ammonia or nitrate was built up. Hey, important lessons learn indeed!

Mollies will give birth dozens of times over there lifetimes. Having them die after giving birth leads me to suspect water quality issues.
