OK, first of all, I think your water change schedule is much too drastic. Waiting two-three weeks for the water to get dirty, then change half straight up, that'll put the fish into minor shock and major stress. Do what I do with my clowns in my 55... force yourself to dedicate a full half hour every weekend (I change about 15-18 gallons each weekend) and the extra few minutes left over to tend to the details.
:Some clarification: I test water about every two weeks and do an ~50% water change every two-three weeks. Also, I feed a combination of shrimp pellets, tropical "crisps", spir. alg. tabs, frozen bloodworms, but have not yet fed any veg...will do so in the next couple days.
::About four weeks ago, I added a trio of CL's to my 55gal setup. Two of them have thrived...growth, color, and activity seem to be great. The other one, while not appearing "timid", is not growing, has fairly good color, does eat, but not as much as the others, and has places above/behind the eyes/head that appear to be "sunken-in" as if he were lacking flesh in those areas (depressions but noit open wounds). Other than the level of activity and these "places", it appears healthy. I also have three Giant Danio's, three Tiger Barbs, and a common pleco in the tank and perform regular water changes after 2x-3x weekly water tests (no problems with water chemistry to date). Any ideas???
