Clown loaches should not be alone...they are a schooling

They also should not be kept in anything smaller than a 55 gallon....if your tank is small than that, take him back and let him be with a group, where he can thrive.

Yes, in a group they will make quick work of snails...but so can you. Stick a piece of lettuce in there in the evening (anchor it with a rock) and after a few hours when the snails are happily munching away, remove it...snails and all...and throw it away.


:i have a very bad snail problem, the little ones that come with freshwater plants from pratically any pet store. somebody from petco told me that the clown loaches will eat the snails. any truth to this? i did purchase one, but i have so many snails that i have no idea if the little guy is eating them or not!
