Well first i like to ask, with 100 pounds live rock, you think you will have room for any fish? to give you an idea to the area 100 pounds live rock covers, in one my reef systems, a 180 gal system, was setup with over 300 pounds live rock.
Now as i can understand it, this is your first marine tank to be, fine. But, i never would suggest any beginner to try having any angelfishes, maybe a flame angel, but not with a lionfish, now as for a lionfish, which species? the largest species grows 15", to large for a 55. Now one the smallest lionfish, is the drawf, grows around 7". As for an eel, which your thinking of? you failed to mention any species by name. Now as for a trigger, not here you not be able to house one for to long in a 55, i know of few triggers that grow just under 10", now to house them in a 55 is a sin to me, i know that few books say a 9" fish can be house in a 55, that is nut`s, they have nowhere to swim. And as for a lionfish being aggressive, that`s your idea, their only aggression is limited to small fishes, small enough to become a meal. Since this is your first marine tank, why dont you start simple? And use aragonite sand, 2 to 3" bed. Perhaps you like to say what this powerful filter is and skimmer? etc. Happy Fishing ><{{{{">

:What i need help on is that in about 3 months i'm going to have my first Saltwater tank setup. It will be a 55 gallon tank with about 100 pounds of live rock and with live sand. I will be running some pretty powerful filters and protein skimmers, etc. But i want to keep some aggressinve fish in it like Lions, Triggers, Angels, Morays, etc. What is everyone's opinion on what would work for this tank. Thanks.
