The best method I've come up with is to let the lion get real hungry, a week without food should do. Buy some of the live food (ghost shrimp), feed him one to get him in feeding mode. Next use a feeding stick which you can make, I use a peice of aquarium tubing with a thick wire inside glued on both ends with a peice of wire (a stripped twist tie) glued on one end. Impail a live ghost shimp on the end and bend the wire so it can't get off. If he's hungry enough he should take it, although it might take a little while. Don't get discouraged, he won't like it at first and it may take a few attempts. I've used this method many times without fail. Pretty soon you should be able to get him going crazy at the sight of the feeding stick, at which point you can feed him whatever you want. Eventually you may be able to get rid of the feeding stick all together as the sight of you will be enough to trigger a feeding response. Be patient and you should end up with a great fish!
Good luck,
-Jon
