Koi...stressed?

I have a 2 Koi in a 125 gallon tank at my husbands office. (I know its not big enough.....my pond in the greenhouse should be ready by the end of the month) One is 14" long, a butterfly koi. The other is smaller. This morning when the guy came to plow the parking lot (2" of snow) he came with a truck with a blade on it, he normally uses a tractor and scoop. Anyway, while he's out there pushing the snow, the fish go to the bottom of the tank and lay there. Then after he leaves the 14" koi starts dropping scales, 3 that I could see. The scales are probably the size of your index finger nail. There was a spot of blood where the scale came off, but that went away as the day went on. Was it just coincidence that the scales dropped off today, or did the vibration of the plow stress him out? He's such a beauty, and a real eye catcher to anyone that comes in the office. Thanks for your help!
