It takes quite a bit of time, took my fish several months, you have to gain their trust. Keep dropping food in at the same exact spot every time you feed them, and stay there while they eat so they can associate you with food. As time goes by leave your hand in the water as they eat, soon they will learn they can get food out of your hand. Be patient, my koi used to hide wherever they could whenever i walked anywhere near my pond, but now when i walk anywhere near it they are at the top in that feeding spot waiting for me. : I am trying to get my koi to come up and eat near me so i can one day feed them with my hands. every time i put the food in a spot they move to the other side of the pond. I dont know what to do if they wont even eat NEER me. Please help.
