If they are suffering from Ammonia poisoning they will be lethargic and just hang around.
And just because the tank is bigger doesn't mean they aren't suffering from ammonia poisoning. If this was a new tank w/ no bacteria in it, or if the filter got wiped out etc. And I'm willing to bet the fish were too croweded to begin with. But he hasn't posted back to its too hard to tell.
Besides the size of the tank means nothing since we have no idea how many fish are in there, and if the tank was ever cycled.
: Overcrowding wont make the fish hanging on the center of the tank. How did overcrowding happens since its from a 4ft. transfered to a bigger tank and its became overcrowding its impossible. Even its overcrowded the fish wont hang.
: : how many gallons are in this 4ft tank or 8ft tank? and how many koi are in there, how big are they? Have you done any water test? (ammonia, nitrIte and nitrAte) I'm guessing that you have too much fish in Too small an area and that water quality is to blame.
