:I am buying my boyfriend a dwarf octopus for christmas and I would like information on how to care for it and what it likes. I am also keeping it for him when he goes on vacation, and would like pointers on how to transport it to my house and whether it likes sunlight or any other information you can give me. Doug has really good luck with animals, and we want to give this little guy the best home possible, so any info anyone has would be great!
Hi, i suggest you find some other invertibrate for a gift, these animals are highly intelligent, and are great escape artist, to house one, your tank needs to be sealed tight, taped up, not even a crack can be seen, for had you ever seen a octopus that`s way larger then your hand, get into a soda bottle for another invertibrate for food, these creatures are amazon hunter`s, and in whatever tank you setup for him, you need to know , he`ll be the only one in this tank, that`s right if you want an octopus he stays alone in a aquarium, and that tank needs to be with lots of liverocks for hiding places and the lights needs to be very low, none the lights the stores are good for them, you need to use in advance some paint to oaint lightly over the light bulb to dim the brightness a great deal. So now you know that to house one these creatures your tank needs to be sealed tightly, even your glass cover needs to be taped down. And the other thing is, your boyfreind needs to know things how to amuse the creature, for in short time the octopus can die from being bored, yes this does happen, he`ll need to come up with things for the octopus to solve problems, they are very high thinkers. Please try to find some other marine life for his gift, ok? these creatures are really and honestly to my thoughts of it, for the more advance hobbyist. Happy fishing
