The easiest crustaceans to keep that are completely aquatic are crayfish (sometimes called freshwater lobsters) and ghost shrimp. The main diet of most freshwater crustaceans is plant matter, and many commercial "crab and crayfish" foods are on the market. But also fish flakes and small guppies (for larger fish) will be available. Crayfish will eat live plants but most small shrimp/prawns can be kept with live plants. Heating will depend entirely on where the crustaceans you buy are from. MOST but not all the ones sold are coldwater species, so an unheated aquarium in most homes (68 - 72 F) is fine. Also, provide larger species with lots of rock caves. Oh, and crayfish will fight and even kill each other, but most shrimp won't. Freshwater crabs are a completely different story and most need some area of land to come out onto.
