We just got two Hermit Crabs about three weeks ago. Last night I placed two new, larger shells in the aquarium and less than an hour later, they had BOTH changed shells. In addition, they seem to huddle together at night and eat together. Is this behavior odd for Hermit Crabs? I read that usually they are very aggressive toward one another.
Also: One of our crabs is very large (large, purple claw is about one and one quarter inch in length). Is there a way to make a judgement on his/her age based on size? Any information is appreciated. Thanks.
