Female Guppies Bloating

If anyone can help me please. I periodically have a mature female bloat to a huge size and then die. The fish themselves go through an awful state of losing swim bladder and bouyancy. Scales tend to protrude because of the internal pressure and fish tend to lose gill function and die. (Only observation not science!!) I have tried increasing salt concentration in tank, by using fresh seawater ( I live on a beach) but am wary of increasing the concentration because so not to distress healthy stock and breeding Bristlenose's. Can anyone give me any suggestions ???
