Youre bound to get 100 different opinions, but mine is that split fins generally heal fine if theyre in clean water. Just make sure the fish isnt picked on. It could be an injury, who knows. If theyre badly split down toward the body and or bloody it could be fin rot, but if its just split and looks benign I just let it heal, and you could add melafix or stresscoat (a small amt.) to the water.

Hey all,
:A few days ago I noticed that a few sections of fin on one of the lobes of my fish's tail is split. Any suggestions to the cause and treatment?
